I know you guys remember that series-that-could-be "Locke & Key" right? Hell it wasn't to long ago we showed you the trailer for the thing. Alas it seemed the series was destined to be cancelled before airing a single episode.
But wait! Perhaps there's a sliver of hope for this one? According to Deadline Hollywood MTV could be interested in saving this one from the boneyard! Now this is all going on the word that MTV programming chief David Janollari "liked" the pilot episode of "Locke & Key", and that's all. There's been no contact between Janollari and "Locke & Key" producers Josh Friedman, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci so I would take this news with a grain of salt. Considering networks like Fox and SyFy have already passed on the project it'd be hard to believe MTV, whose biggest show is "Jersey Shore", would be interested in snatching this one up.
With a pilot that was penned by Josh Friedman and directed by Mark Romanek, "Locke & Key's" rundown reads a little something like this: After the murder of their father, Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode Locke relocate with their mother to the family estate of Keyhouse, located in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. Sam Lesser, one of the teens who murdered Mr. Locke, is in a juvenile detention center and, by gazing in water, communicates with a supernatural force that promises to free him. Bode Locke, the youngest of the family, uncovers The Ghost Door, which separates his spirit from his body. Nick Stahl, Jesse McCartney, Mark Pellegrino, Sarah Bolger, and Miranda Otto (below) were all previously attached to star in the series though if it was to jump on over to MTV it's unknown who would return.
So there you have it folks! Far from a done deal but it's nice to see a solid genre series like "Locke & Key" refuse to die. We'll keep our eyes and ears open for more on this whole thing and as soon as we hear anything we'll be sure to pass the news along to all of you.
